April 25th 2010- The London Marathon

Martin is running the London Marathon 2010 in aid of the Make a Wish charity, which grants magical wishes to children with life threatening illnesses. For a man who doesn't run, never did a school cross-country because of childhood asthma, and considers a stroll around the shops an over-excertion, this is going to be a mighty big challenge. You can sponsor him through his page on the justgiving website. CLICK HERE TO GO TO MARTIN'S SPONSORSHIP PAGE

Willow Foundation Beaufort Polo Day
Martin

Just to say a big thank you for Saturday. Not only did you do the most marvellous job as our auctioneer but also you stepped up as our MC - which was very much appreciated.  I know that Bob and Megs will be writing to you separately but we just wanted you to know how grateful we are of your support.  The day really wouldn't have been such a success without your efforts.

We are still waiting for the final costs to be submitted however are confident that the total will be well in excess of £41,000.  This is an absolutely amazing amount and far exceeds our hopes and expectations.  The large majority was raised in the auction which you conducted with a professional ease and humour.  I honestly don't think anyone minded us running over and we have had nothing but positive comments about the day.

Many thanks once again to you and Kirsty for making the day such a success.

Best wishes

Suzanne

PS - are you free next year????!

ARMA Annual Conference

1st December 2009

Dear Martin,

Our 14th Annual Conference 15.10.09

Just a brief note to thank you again for the excellent job you did in moderating this event and indeed helping make it the best yet - ?excellent' was also how the vast majority of the delegates rated you on their feed-back forms.

You did a great job linking all the presentations using both gravitas and humour. You also got the panel session buzzing which I suspect we could have run for another hour without losing the momentum.

I look forward to working with you next year.

All thanks from our Council and members.

Kind regards

David Hewett
Chief Executive

Make a Wish Foundation Summer Ball

Dear Martin

I would like to extend our most grateful thanks to you for being the auctioneer at our Summer Ball held at Blenheim Palace last weekend. It was a wonderful evening and I am delighted to tell you we raised over £100,000. We could not have done this with out your skills, so thank you so much!

Research commissioned by Make-A-Wish in the last year confirmed that there are at least 20,000 children fighting life-threatening illnesses in the UK today.  We believe that every child who has a life-threatening illness is entitled to have their Make-A-Wish wish come true.  Our job is simply to grant as many of them as we possibly can.

Make-A-Wish receives no government or lottery funding.  Without events such as these and the wonderful support of people like yourself, who give their time so generously, we would not, quite simply, be able to grant the magical wishes that we do.

And they are magical!  Whether it is meeting Father Christmas or flying a helicopter, being a princess or owning a quad bike, Make-A-Wish makes each one as special and as memorable as possible.

Please go to our website www.make-a-wish.org.uk to read more about our wishes.  If you click on Watch A Wish, you can share in the magical experiences.

This year will be our busiest year ever.  The number of children being referred to us for wishes is at record high levels and we estimate that, in 2009, we will have more than 1,000 children asking us to have a wish granted.  We will not be able to grant these wishes without the continued generosity of our supporters.

Once again, from all of us at Make-A-Wish Foundation UK, thank you for your support.

I hope to see you again soon and as you mentioned, we would definitely be grateful to use your auctioning skills at a future event!

Kind regards

Thames Hospice Care Charity Ball

Martin recently hosted the Thames Hospicecare Summer Charity Ball themed as James Bond on 17th July 2009.  He was also our fantastic Auctioneer for the night and managed to raise a huge amount of money for us through his charm and technique.!!

In total, our profit on the night currently stands at a massive £10,000. This is enough money to provide 655 hours of nursing care to those who need it locally, which is fantastic.  This was largely down to Martin by doing such a fantastic job on the auction!.

He was fantastic at getting the highest bids, and we are so grateful to Martin for giving up his time so generously and willingly for Thames Hospicecare.

He is a very charming, warm person, who was so keen to help us, and his presence at the event made it all the more special.

Thames Hospicecare is an independent charity and the care and the services we offer to local families affected by cancer and other life-limiting illness are provided free of charge.   To be able to offer these services we have to raise a lot of money each year and at this event, we could not have done it without Martins superb help at the auction!

So once again from all of us here at Thames Hospicecare, thank you Martin for your support, it really is appreciated.
