Dear Martin
I would like to extend our most grateful thanks to you for being the auctioneer at our Summer Ball held at Blenheim Palace last weekend. It was a wonderful evening and I am delighted to tell you we raised over £100,000. We could not have done this with out your skills, so thank you so much!
Research commissioned by Make-A-Wish in the last year confirmed that there are at least 20,000 children fighting life-threatening illnesses in the UK today. We believe that every child who has a life-threatening illness is entitled to have their Make-A-Wish wish come true. Our job is simply to grant as many of them as we possibly can.
Make-A-Wish receives no government or lottery funding. Without events such as these and the wonderful support of people like yourself, who give their time so generously, we would not, quite simply, be able to grant the magical wishes that we do.
And they are magical! Whether it is meeting Father Christmas or flying a helicopter, being a princess or owning a quad bike, Make-A-Wish makes each one as special and as memorable as possible.
Please go to our website www.make-a-wish.org.uk to read more about our wishes. If you click on Watch A Wish, you can share in the magical experiences.
This year will be our busiest year ever. The number of children being referred to us for wishes is at record high levels and we estimate that, in 2009, we will have more than 1,000 children asking us to have a wish granted. We will not be able to grant these wishes without the continued generosity of our supporters.
Once again, from all of us at Make-A-Wish Foundation UK, thank you for your support.
I hope to see you again soon and as you mentioned, we would definitely be grateful to use your auctioning skills at a future event!
Kind regards
Laura Coates
