As a long time passionate supporter of the NSPCC and Childline, Martin has set up his own charity, The Martin Roberts Foundation, to support educational and well-being initiatives for children and young people.

The Foundation is currently embarking on a campaign to raise sufficient funds through sponsorship and donations to enable the book, ‘Sadsville‘ (written by Martin especially to promote the work of Childline and other charities and organisations to help children) to all 8 & 9 year old  (school Years 4) throughout the country.

Charity Events & Contributions

Martin’s comparing and auctioning skills have raised tens of thousands of pounds for a wide range of charities. Here’s just a selection of the charities he has supported.

Weston Hospicecare

Weston Hospicecare provides palliative care for people living with a life-limiting illness in Weston-super-Mare and the surrounding areas. Martin compered their very own ‘Strictly Fun Dancing’ fundraising event in March 2018, raising a truly remarkable £18,000!

Carers Trust

Carers Trust is a major charity for, with and about carers. They work to improve support, services and recognition for anyone living with the challenges of caring, unpaid, for a family member or friend who is ill, frail, disabled or has mental health or addiction problems.

Mentoring Plus, Bath

Mentoring Plus train and support adult volunteers to mentor 7 – 21 year olds needing extra support with family, education, emotional needs and employability.

Just A Drop

Just a Drop raises money to build wells, install boreholes and hand pumps, and carry out sanitation and health education programmes in some of the poorest parts of the developing world. Martin is a Patron of the Charity.

London Marathon

Martin ran the London marathon 2010 in aid of ‘Make a Wish’. Fighting a badly damaged knee, strained ligaments and an acute lack of preparation, he staggered around the course in a remarkable 6 hrs 57 minutes and 19 seconds!
Despite the less-than-olympian performance, Martin still managed to raise over £2000 for the charity.

Willow Foundation

The charity founded by legendary goal keeper Bob Wilson, Dedicated to bringing special days to the seriously ill who are between the ages 16 and 40 years of age and live in the United Kingdom. Martin has compared the charity auction at several fundraising events.

Animals Asia

Martin is an active supporter of this charity, which aims to stop cruelty to animals, particularly Asiatic ‘Moon Bears’ in China. He has visited the ‘moon bear sanctuary in Chengdu in China, and compared many events and auctions for the charity.

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People

The charity that trains and places canines with persons who are deaf or hard of hearing at no cost. Martin has personal family links with this charity and has raised thousands at charity auctions on their behalf.

Make A Wish

Charity granting wishes of children and young people aged between 3 and 17 living with life threatening illnesses. Martin ran the London marathon in 2010 for them, and has acted as auctioneer at many fundraising events.
